III Decades of Stuttpark
SKTWK
As part of Adidas' SKTWK 2024 commitment, we worked with renowned filmmaker Torsten Frank to create a journey through Stuttgart's skateboarding history.
From the wild and aggressive 90s to the female- and all-gender-inclusive skateboarding of today, from VHS tape to the 9:16 Instagram format, visitors were able to take a journey through 6 memorable eras in the unique atmosphere of the Kunstverein Wagenhallen as opening event of our SKTWK festival in Stuttgart.
In addition to several different playback and recording devices, the installation also consisted of iconic exhibits from the respective eras, from skated boards and magazines to ripped and worn out shoes. The Adidas Superstar, which was super popular in the very early years, stood out. Back then with fat laces and socks under the tongue, today it remains unchanged on the boards of the Gen Z generation. A true original.

We kicked off the journey with a one-of-a-kind video exhibition - a concept we developed to translate the history of Nike SB full-length skate videos into an actual space. The highlights from over 15 hours of the Swoosh’s contribution to the full-length video culture can be experienced in a 20 minute walk through. The narrative takes a critical look at the reduced attention span of people today and celebrates the full-length as a more satisfying and rewarding way to create and consume content.
The world premiere then took place in the Centre Pompidou cinema after a legendary pillow fight that went viral on social media, after we had adapted the trailer so that it could be played across the entire facade, with the Nike SB team riding a demo on Raphael Zarka's skateable sculpture.
