Combining a grassroots event and consumer activation for the annual Go Skateboarding Day in Berlin, we created an interactive concept to engage the entire core skate scene of the city. The goal: To deliver a unique (brand) experience over the course of the entire day at several Berlin skate hotspots, retail partners and the Nike SB Brand Space (Project DSS).
The Go Skateboarding Day is all about practicing community in the skateboard scene. ‘Enjoying a great time together’ was the main motto, supplemented by the current hype surrounding the phenomenon of ‘Bottle Flips’, which we turned into a team challenge. The challenge tested participants’ creativity and teamwork in a number of entertaining Instagram stories all across Berlin. These were integrated with the momentum surrounding this special day by adding the hashtag #GoSkateboarding.
The pack delivered all essential tools and spare parts to survive the biggest day in the annual skateboarding calendar. Available exclusively to Nike App members and only on Go Skateboarding Day at select Nike retailers all over Berlin.
End consumers were involved in event communications in an interactive manner. They were invited to participate in the final completion of the redesign behind Berlin’s notorious Dog Shit Spot. This last piece of construction allowed skaters to finally ride entire laps around DSS, which we used in the Go Skateboarding Day challenges rewarding the fastest lap and fastest flip trick.
